How to care for your pot

Once your pot has been cured in accordance with the instructions provided the remaining precautions are:

Avoid:

  • Dropping. In case of chipping the edges, they can be sanded smooth and re-oiled.
  • Changing temperature dramatically, such as being taken from a hot oven and placed on a cold wet surface, or being taken from a refrigerator straight into a hot oven. Always begin at room temperature.
  • The use of sharp objects to serve or stir food. Wooden spoons are ideal.
  • Always use oven gloves when handing a hot pot and its lid, remember the stone and the copper handles can reach temperatures as high as 1000C.
  • The soapstone baking/roasting trays are to be only used in ovens and not on the hob, unless at the owner own risk, with a heat diffuser.
